Release Notes

The 1099 Pro Service Bureau will not include the 1099-NEC as part of the Combined Federal State Filing Program (CF/SF). To complete 1099-NEC state filing via the Service Bureau, you must purchase the additional 1099-NEC state filing service (details here).

Many states that implemented their own 1099-NEC filing mandates are still requiring state direct filing instead of allowing filers to use the IRS CF/SF Program. This is because most states have already built their reporting portals and direct reporting provides the data to states earlier in the year which is a critical tool in combating tax fraud.


New and improved:

  • We enabled Electronic Filing for all 1099s, Puerto Rico (PR), W-2, ACA, and 1042-S. 
  • We enabled the Service Bureau for all 1099s, Puerto Rico (PR), W-2, ACA, and 1042-S. 
  • We enabled Paper Filing for all 1099s, W-2, and 1042-S.
  • We updated the following Puerto Rico (PR) forms for tax year 2021 changes for form entry, importing, and printing: 499R-2, 480.6A, 480.6B, 480.6G, 480.6SP, 480.7, and 480.7C.
  • For ACA, we updated the 1095-B and 1095-C for tax year 2021 changes for form entry, importing, and printing.
  • For the 1099-PATR, we added Rule R04 - Invalid credit/deduction type.
  • For Puerto Rico (PR) forms, we updated the Email field to allow for a maximum of 40 characters. (CS-3444)
  • For the 1095-B, we updated Rule R14 (Incomplete Pt II employer info) for name, EIN, and valid address information. (CS-3244)
  • In the Service Bureau Upload Wizard, we renamed the "Web Presentment" service to "Online Access Only". (CS-3333)
  • We made the following updates to State Filing:
    • For the Iowa (IA) W-2, we removed the BEN Number from the file name and RV Record. (CS-3454)
      • Example: IA EFW2-00005 1234567890 2021 1-11-22 8-05PM.TXT
      • RV Record, Positions 40-47: Zero Fill
    • For the Iowa (IA) 1099, we removed the BEN Number from the file name and RV Record. (CS-3454)
      • Example: IA TAX-00005 (Orig) 2021 1-11-22 8-05PM.TXT
      • RV Record, Positions 40-47: Zero Fill


Bug fixes:

  • In the Scheduler, the 1099-R had import errors during the Post phase. We fixed this issue. (CS-3309)
  • On the 1099-OID, the Box 1 description now matches the IRS form. (CS3431)
  • The Export Wizard home screen now shows the current tax year (2021). (CS-3335)
  • On the 1099-MISC, the Rule R16 description now shows the current tax year (2021). (CS-3300)
  • We fixed the following Printing issues:
    • On Copy A of the 1099-NEC, the Filer's Phone Number was printing on the wrong line. (CS-3346)
    • On the 1099-NEC, the Box 5 (Blank Stock Combined Copy) amount was aligned incorrectly. (CS-3415)
    • On the 1099-S ACL, N11EZ & 5145, the optional message was aligned incorrectly. (CS-3432)
    • On the 1042-S ACL, Alternate Comb, the WMF error was missing. (CS-3303)
    • On the 1099-MISC Combined Copy, there were alignment issues and the form name has been updated from "Miscellaneous Income" to "Miscellaneous Information". 
    • On the 1099-PATR ACL N11EZ, Box 13 was aligned incorrectly.
