It is ALWAYS your best option to locate an internal backup of your data files. Please check with your IT to determine if a backup of your data exists. If a backup cannot be located, the Service Bureau may be able to assist with data restoration; however our data is only as accurate as the last upload file we received. Further, our data recovery files may not reflect the correct upload statuses in your software - thus some manipulation may be required. It really is best to locate an internal data backup!
Email requests for data recovery services to SB@1099pro.com. The Service Bureau will authenticate your request prior to performing services.
The IRS requires filers to retain tax data for at least five years. If recipients request duplicate tax forms or corrections to their tax forms, filers must comply with the requests. |
Our software products include backup utilities. We strongly encourage users to backup their data on a regular basis - especially during tax season - and save backups to a network or flash drive. It is risky saving backups on a local drive; computers may get damaged or stolen. In a standard installation, BackupXX.exe is located at C:\1099 Pro\Pro99TXX. XX = the tax year of the software product |
In a standard installation, our backup utility saves data to C:\1099 Pro\Pro99TXX\Data Backups in a ZIP file (e.g., 1099 Pro 2022 Backup on 3-NOV-2022 6-26AM.ZIP). Alternately, some users routinely copy their data folder and save it in an external location. In a standard installation, your data .TPS files are stored in C:\1099 Pro\Pro99TXX\Data. To locate your data folders, open your 1099 Pro software → menu bar → Help - About. At the About screen click the 1099 Pro icon to view your program paths. |
When an employee using our software leaves your company, have your IT backup all 1099 Pro data files prior to wiping their computer. Filers are required to maintain tax data for several years. |
The Service Bureau does not provide individual PDF copies of recipient forms. Rather, open your 1099 Pro software installation and go to the Work With My Tax Forms screen. There you can quickly print or email individual copies of recipient tax forms. |
Single Data File
Multiple Data Files
If you submitted multiple IRS/SSA Filing or Full Service uploads, a clean data restoration is not possible. Rather, you must copy over your data folders and navigate between them to view contents.
Create subfolders in C:\1099 Pro\Pro99TXX for each of the additional data recovery files. Using Image 1 as an example, folders would be named C:\1099 Pro\Pro99TXX\Data_002, C:\1099 Pro\Pro99TXX\Data_003, etc.
Extract the contents of each data recovery ZIP file into its corresponding folder.
To view the contents of each data recovery folder, exit the 1099 Pro software.
Rename folder "Data" to "Data-Orig".
Then name the data recovery folder that you want to view "Data".
