Release Notes

This is a required update in order to file 2016 tax forms with the IRS and/or upload files to the 1099 Pro Service Bureau.

NEW & IMPORTANT: The IRS filing deadline for all 1099-MISC forms with Box 7 (nonemployee compensation) amounts for either paper or electronic filing is now January 31st. The software has been updated throughout to reflect the new deadline. Our print, service bureau, e-filing, and export wizards have been updated to allow users to select 1099-MISC forms with Box 7 amounts only. The service bureau printing and mailing wizard now defaults to include IRS e-filing of these forms as well.


NEW: Reminder on screen if you have 1099-MISC forms with Box 7 Non-Employee Compensation (NEC) to file with the IRS by 1/31.

NEW: 1099-MISC Box 7 changes.  The mag, print, export, & Service Bureau wizards now have filter options to include 1099-MISC forms with Box 7 only.  You can still select ‘All Form Types’ or ‘Selected Form Types’ but if you have 1099-MISC forms included they will be filtered based on your selection.

NEW: Tax Year 2016 electronic file generation.

NEW: Import Validation mechanism for certain words in the First Name field, i.e "LLC", "Partnership", "Inc.".  These instances will now flag a pop-up warning.

UPDATE: The paper filing module has been activated for filing paper forms via a 1096.

UPDATE: The Service Bureau upload module has been activated to provide for uploading forms for processing via the 1099 Pro Service Bureau. Available services include printing & mailing, federal filing, web presentment and more.

FIXED: 1098 box 4 and box 6 were allowing more numbers to be entered then the visible space on the form allows.

  • NOTE: While our software allows printing up to 72 characters in boxes 8 & 9 and 60 characters in box 10, the IRS only accepts 39 characters for each during e-filing.  Any data over 39 characters in boxes 8, 9, and 10 will get truncated in the IRS e-file.

This update also includes many other small visual and/or performance enhancements.
