SOFTWARE ENHANCEMENTS:

Test Files – new, to facilitate IDES testing. 

When you create a test file(s) the records are marked as filed thereby enabling you the ability to create test amended or voided forms where the new records reference the original values for tags like <ftc:CorrMessageRefId> & <ftc:CorrDocRefId>. 

IDES prohibits the sending in of production data to the test environment so we suggest you do any testing under a Filer that is clearly identified e.g. “TEST FILER” or similar and with sample data.

Updated: 

  • XML Test process to create session and update form status to "Filed" on the processed forms. 
  • Corrections process update. Corrected Data is used for records being re-transmitted after the IRS has notified the sender of a problem with the file or underlying data. Corrected Data should ONLY be used when responding to an IRS request to correct the data. (not used for Decryption, XML other file-level errors). 

    • Corrected report: If you are filing Form 8966 to correct information submitted to the IRS in a previously filed Form 8966 in response to an IRS inquiry, complete Form 8966 containing the corrected information as if it were the original Form 8966 for the year in question and check the box “Corrected report.” You do not need to include a Form 8966 marked “Voided report” with the corrected Form 8966.
    • Amended report: If you are filing Form 8966 to correct a previously filed Form 8966 and you have not been contacted by the IRS, complete Form 8966 containing the corrected information as if it were the original Form 8966 and check the box “Amended report.” A Form 8966 marked “Voided report” must be filed with the amended Form 8966. 

Fixed: 

  • Form count report and scan process to respect preference: Allow deleted Forms to be visible. 
  • Viewing deleted records in the "Work with my tax forms" area returns the error "Invalid FormStatus for FormUpdateOptions: 108".
  • Fixed 1042 S message appears when hovering over Create an 8966 FATCA XML v1.1 button.
  • Errors and warnings for deleted forms are reflected on the Form Counts report only if the “Allow previously deleted forms to be visible on Tax Form Browses” option is checked.

 

IDES PACKAGER DIFFERENCES IN 1.6.8 FROM 1.6.3

Updated:

  • Packager now has more informative logging. 
  • Packager uses updated XML schemas. 
  • Better error message in case the XML file schema is invalid.

Fixed:

  • Decryption operation could fail unnecessarily.
  • A configuration error in the project sometimes caused the embedded version to crash.  
  • A bug caused the embedded recipient certificates to fail to appear for Singapore and United States.
  • Updated the forbidden character rules. 
  • XML validation for notifications.
